English Debate

On the 16th of April 2009, SMK Bandar Sungai Buaya held the English Debate ala Parliament for the district of Hulu Selangor. Seven teams from several schools in Hulu Selangor entered the competition with high hopes of winning the competition and bringing gold medals back to their respetive schools.

Even our own school, SMK Bandar Sungai Buaya entered the prestigious competition. The school team comprised of Punithen (5U), Dahrenee (5U), Lisa (5U), Mohamad Nazmi (3U), and Aqilah (2U).

Although the team tried their best, they lost in a match against SMK Syed Mashor. The two final teams were SMK Bukit Sentosa and SMK Syed Mashor. The motion for that match was ' Being ICT savvy is vital in developing independent learners'. SMK Bukit Sentosa played the role of the government while the opposition was played by SMK Syed Mashor

The match was monopolised by SMK Bukit Sentosa, which did not come as a suprise as they had won the National English Debate ala Parliament competition the previous year.

At the end of the competition, Puan Rokiah awarded each school their certificates of participation and medals were given to the the respective winners.

Although our school did not win, we gained experience and knowledge and hope to enter again next year to beat the current champions.
